There is a wide range of support available from SDVS to support the work of your voluntary and community group - be it a brand-new idea or an existing venture - from assisting your Trustees in their Governance, supporting staff and managers, to helping produce policies and better ways of working.

Fundraising and Funding

All groups share an ongoing challenge of attracting sufficient funding to help them do their work and this is often the reason groups first contact SDVS. We have considerable experience and expertise in this field and we aim to provide a comprehensive, up to date, accessible and inexpensive funding support service.

Group Development Support

Voluntary & Community groups vary tremendously in size and scope, having widely varying support needs at different stages of development. SDVS recognises the diversity and aims of the local sector and can provide support and assistance at every stage; from initial setting up a group, helping with the development of projects, policies, governance and growth including examples of best practice and if necessary, helping groups to wind up.

Forums and Networking

Groups develop better through being able to ‘network’ with other similarly minded people and organisations, learning from shared experiences. SDVS assists the local Voluntary and Community Sector by providing opportunities for people to meet, as well as publicise other events and forums. The Stafford Voluntary Chief Officers' Group (SVCOG) has now been set up, for Chief Officers of the larger voluntary organisations in Stafford Borough.

Practical support is also available to voluntary and community groups. This ranges from facilities here at SDVS, to specific information leaflets on a wide range of topics.

In most circumstances our development services are offered free to SDVS Members.

However, SDVS reserves the right to make charges for this support where we have to; we will always tell you well in advance if a service will cost you. Fees are also often negotiable.
