CAN we make a plea to all our members to take advantage of the training courses available which have been put together to help all of us cope with – and survive - the new financial reality.
The Third Sector is facing its biggest challenge in decades from the financial cuts being imposed by the new coalition government and many members are wondering how they will cope in this new era of relative austerity.
There is an understandable widespread nervousness and sense of insecurity because the cuts which have already been imposed, and the ones inevitably still yet to come, leave us in absolutely no doubt that funding is going to be harder to secure. It is not taking things too far to say that the very existence of some organisations is threatened.
The question we all need to ask ourselves is how can we adapt to the new reality and what should we be doing to secure our futures in the years ahead. The answer – in part at least – is attending cost-effective courses which share best practice and give us ideas for the strategies and methods we will need to cope.

The new Drupal Theme has been applied... OK, sorry: in English:-
The SDVS website looks different but has the same content (for the moment), and we're now taking on and signing up Authenticated Users, although we're still currently moderating who signs up, as we're being hit with spambots (and if you don't know what they, you don't need to know...)

You may have noticed our website offline and on again... as part of the total refresh of our online presence.
Of course now that we're back, you won't see many differences as yet, but we're working on many behind the scenes.
This week, I'm stealing everyone else's links about social media and posting them here:
On Tuesday 13th July 2010, SDVS invited some of the many voluntary and community groups that operate here in Stafford to demonstrate the value of their work for the citizens of Stafford Borough.
Many of Stafford Borough and Staffordshire County Councillors were in attendance at the event, to learn more about that voluntary contribution, to meet with local volunteers and paid staff and to see some of the vast range of services we provide in Stafford Borough.
